Remembering Faith Ringgold (1930-2024)

Posted on April 15, 2024

Faith Ringgold Art ProjectsFaith Ringgold passed away on April 12, 2024 at the age of 93.  Of the 35 artist units from Meet the Masters, Ringgold was the last living artist.  Ringgold was a trailblazing artist, fierce activist and acclaimed author.  She will be missed.

Over the years, students, parents and teachers have enjoyed learning about Faith Ringgold – what she stood for, her artistic creative techniques and of course, being able to create “quilt masterpieces” that told their own stories.

Ringgold created a beautiful combination of quilting and painting in striking works of art. Her African-American heritage inspires visual story telling in her colorful masterpieces. Student artists use cut-paper quilt designs combined with oil pastel pictures of a favorite memory to imitate her style.

Everyone Loves MTM!

As a volunteer for my son’s school, Peace with Christ Christian School, in Aurora, Colorado, I recommended the Meet the Masters program to the art teacher and to the principal. One track was purchased the next year and another track was purchased the subsequent year. Volunteers moved between classrooms presenting artists to children who were excited and enthusiastic about learning the Masters of art.  The curriculum presented the artist biography, broke down art techniques into manageable pieces, and enhanced the students artistic skills.

Wishing you many years of continued success in bringing art and Meet the Masters to children, of all ages.
