2 Minutes to Tell Congress You Support the Arts

Posted on March 2, 2011

Last month, the U.S. House of Representatives approved a Continuing Resolution (CR) appropriations package that cuts dozens of federal agencies and programs for the balance of the current 2011 fiscal year (March 18 through September 30). The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) is targeted for a $43 million cut in the legislation.

The Senate is considering their version of this legislation now and we need you to send a message to your members of Congress calling on them to reject this cut to the NEA.

Through its core programs–Access to Artistic Excellence, Challenge America: Reaching Every Community, Federal/State Partnerships, and Learning in the Arts–the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) funds dance, design, folk & traditional arts, literature, local arts agencies, media arts, multidisciplinary, museums, music, musical theater, opera, presenting, theater, and visual arts.

Please take a few minutes to write to your elected officials and ask them to support the National Endowment for the Arts. To learn more about the programs of the National Endowment for the Arts.

It only takes a few minutes and you can do it online. Click here.
