Meet the woman who painted her way into history.

Posted on June 12, 2024

This month, we’re excited to spotlight Rosa Bonheur.

She adored animals and brought them to life on canvas.

But Rosa Rosa Bonheur wasn’t just any artist.

She broke gender norms and became a leading painter of her time. Her works are rich in detail and realism, and perfect for teaching your students about art and life.

Here’s why Bonheur is one of our 35 masters:

  • Her paintings focus on animals and rural scenes.
  • Each piece is detailed and brings every subject to life.
  • She used oil paints to capture realistic textures and colors.

Your students will learn to appreciate the beauty of nature through Bonheur’s eyes. They’ll understand the importance of patience and observation in creating art.

In short, here’s what Bonheur can teach:

  • Pay attention to detail. Every line matters.
  • Practice symmetry to balance your composition.
  • Observe your subject closely. Notice the textures and colors.

These tips help students see like artists, so they can translate what they see onto paper.

But that’s not all.

Here’s what else your students will gain from studying Bonheur:

  • A deep connection with nature and animals.
  • The joy of creating realistic and meaningful art.
  • Improved observation skills and attention to detail.

Our curriculum makes it easy. With step-by-step guides and training videos, you don’t need an art background. We provide everything you need to make art lessons enjoyable and effective.

It’s as easy as 1-2-3:

  1. Follow our simple guides.
  2. Use our provided art supplies.
  3. Watch the transformation in your students.

Help us bring Rosa Bonheur’s legacy into your classroom. And make sure to check our student gallery to see the result first-hand.

Creatively yours,

Meet the Masters

Everyone Loves MTM!

I have been involved with and using the Meet the Masters Art Curriculum for about 20 years. I started out as a parent volunteer at my son’s former elementary school in Orange County, and then went on to facilitate and coordinate a Meet the Masters Art program at Maranatha Christian Academy in Santa Ana. This just goes to show how successful and user friendly this art program really is!

The biggest blessing for me, is being involved with such an amazing and diverse curriculum that draws kids in to the world of art, the lives of the artist, as well as the history behind the great masters. I know that their love of learning about art is translated into the many art projects that Meet the Masters offers. The MTM staff are here to assist you in designing your schools individual programs and offer you the support to make sure that you and your program will succeed.
