About Mary Cassatt (1844-1926)

Mary Cassatt was an American artist who lived much of her life in France and became an important member of the Impressionist movement. Born in 1844, she was one of the few female artists to participate in the Impressionist exhibitions, and her works often focused on the intimate relationships between mothers and children.

Cassatt was known for her use of color and loose brushwork, as well as her sensitivity to the emotional experiences of women. She was also a prominent advocate for women's rights and used her artwork to challenge traditional gender roles. Her work has had a lasting impact on both American and European art and continues to be celebrated for its tender and insightful depictions of the lives of women and children.

See Why Everyone Loves Meet The Masters

As an artist and educator for over 40 years, I have always prided myself on doing what is right for students. Having the resources that not only teach skills, but the standards and the art history connected to those skills is monumental.

Meet the Masters gives teachers and the students the language to articulate what the work is and what it means. MTM provides the curriculum and the tools to take art education to a different level. In today’s world, art is a means to connect culture, education, and who we are as a people.

Who better to learn from, than the Masters?
