Mary Cassatt was an American artist who lived much of her life in France and became an important member of the Impressionist movement. Born in 1844, she was one of the few female artists to participate in the Impressionist exhibitions, and her works often focused on the intimate relationships between mothers and children.
Cassatt was known for her use of color and loose brushwork, as well as her sensitivity to the emotional experiences of women. She was also a prominent advocate for women's rights and used her artwork to challenge traditional gender roles.
