About Paul Klee (1879-1940)

Paul Klee was a Swiss-German painter and graphic artist who was one of the leading members of the Expressionist movement. He is known for his highly individual style, which combined elements of Expressionism, Cubism, and Surrealism. His works often feature playful, childlike images and a unique use of color, which he referred to as "taking a line for a walk." He taught at the Bauhaus school in Germany and his works have been hugely influential in the development of modern art.

In his short life, Klee produced more than 9,000 works, including paintings, drawings, and watercolors. Today, he is widely considered to be one of the most important artists of the 20th century and his works are highly valued by art collectors and institutions around the world.

Klee’s love of music serves as inspiration for many of his abstractions. The student artists will both hear and see the connection as they enjoy his fanciful imagination. Using watercolor washes, the young artists enjoy creating their own abstract compositions from their feelings and imaginations. Real Reviews from Real Teachers & Parents

See Why Everyone Loves Meet The Masters

Meet the masters continues to be one of the most successful programs at our school, with the largest consistent group of parent volunteers. Our students recognize art by “the masters” when they see it around town or on family trips. Students that call themselves “bad at art” have been delighted when they see the beautiful art they can create. Thank you for all you do to make this curriculum glow and shine. We love it and are so thrilled to continue to use it at our school!
