How did Warhol turn soup into art?

Posted on October 22, 2025

Art Lessons for Andy Warhol

Meet the prince of Pop Art: Andy Warhol.

He took everyday things like soup cans, soda bottles, and movie stars, and made them into bold, unforgettable art.

Warhol blurred the line between fame and creativity. Between art and advertising. Between genius and… a really good marketing plan.

And that’s exactly why he’s one of our 35 featured Masters.

His work didn’t just decorate galleries.

It changed how people saw art—and how they saw the world around them.

MTM students create their own version of “Pop Art” inspired by Warhol’s bright and simple Campbell’s Soup Cans.

Now your students get to step into Warhol’s world.

They’ll learn:

  • What Pop Art is (and why it matters)
  • How to use bold color, repetition, and contrast
  • The power of printing techniques like silkscreen
  • Why everyday objects can tell powerful stories
  • How to spot emotion in unexpected places

Then they’ll create their own Warhol-style masterpiece: using tissue squares, markers, and construction paper.

It’s bold, graphic, and fun.

Students love the contrast and color. And it’s a great way to blend drawing with a printing-like feel.

This lesson is easy to add to your curriculum.

  • We provide everything: scripts, slides, visuals, and instructions
  • It’s perfect for any teacher or volunteer—no art background needed
  • You’ll get multiple project levels for K–8+
  • And best of all, the results are always bright, expressive, and exciting

Already have Warhol in your Track?

It’s time to revisit him.

Haven’t added this artist yet?

He’s the perfect way to make your art program pop.

Head to our student gallery to see what students have created after learning from Andy.

Let’s turn your classroom into The Factory.

Creatively yours,

Meet the Masters

Everyone Loves MTM!

We have been enjoying Meet the Masters at Friends Christian School for about 7 years. I am so impressed with the program. It has taught the children not only facts about a particular artist but also a love of art. Many of the students who are not excelling academically find a talent or expression in art that they may not find anywhere else. This builds their self-confidence. I have seen this time and time again. Our MTM teacher has been such an inspiration to our students with her passion and enthusiasm. The way she leads the assembly with slides, hands-on objects, facts, and background of the artist has the kids so intently listening it is amazing. The children are able to recall facts about the artist long after the project, because it is taught in such an interesting and exciting way. Being someone who loves art and creativity I wanted to thank you for this program for our school and thank you for sending a teacher who loves what she does.

We are truly blessed.
