What Happens When There Is No Art Curriculum In School?

Posted on 26 Aug at 7:30 am
Art curriculum in school plays a significant role in helping students develop various life skills. Thus, people must understand the importance of art in schools. But what happens when there is no art curriculum implemented in the school? Students may struggle to work on their critical thinking skills, creativity, and more. Moreover, their academic performance may also be affected if they do not learn art. So, let’s discuss its impact on the students’ overall learning and growth journey.

art is important in education

Impact on creativity

When students practice art at school, it will help them work on innovative thinking. There may be several problems that they encounter during the art programs. But they will learn how to solve these problems and move ahead. These skills are essential in life as they may face difficult situations in the future where these skills will help them navigate their way ahead. For more in-depth information, visit

Impact on emotional expression

Do you know that students also learn how to be empathetic and care about everyone around them when they invest time in art programs at school? This will also help them with emotional expressions as they will become more comfortable with expressing their emotions when they practice art regularly. To gain more insights, check out

Impact on learning

Art can also help boost the memory and retention skills of students. It will improve their comprehension. So, when they learn art, they can also study other subjects like science or math better. However, when art simply does not exist in their life, learning different subjects will be difficult for them. Therefore,
art is important in education.

Impact on overall motivation

When students enjoy the art programs at the school, they may be motivated to be regular at school. However, if they are not as interested in academics, they simply have nothing to look forward to. This can impact their attendance as their motivation will be low. Focusing solely on academics is not the best approach, as some students may excel more in art. So, they should have equal opportunities to explore their artistic talents. To learn more, head to

Impact on their perspective

When students can explore arts education and work on different art projects, it will also broaden their life perspectives. For instance, they may understand how there is so much more to life than academic success. Even if a student is average in academics, they may perform exceptionally well in the arts field.

So, if you want to include art curriculum at your school, you can find various art lessons, such as an Alexander Calder art style lesson, at a trusted platform.

Everyone Loves MTM!

As a volunteer for my son’s school, Peace with Christ Christian School, in Aurora, Colorado, I recommended the Meet the Masters program to the art teacher and to the principal. One track was purchased the next year and another track was purchased the subsequent year. Volunteers moved between classrooms presenting artists to children who were excited and enthusiastic about learning the Masters of art.  The curriculum presented the artist biography, broke down art techniques into manageable pieces, and enhanced the students artistic skills.

Wishing you many years of continued success in bringing art and Meet the Masters to children, of all ages.
