Some say abstract art is meaningless. They’re wrong. (Paul Klee)

Posted on 15 Jan at 10:58 pm

Have you ever wondered what it feels like to step into a dream?

Paul Klee, the Swiss-German artist and musician, believed art could make that happen. His whimsical, abstract works – full of fantasy, movement, and color – are beloved worldwide.

He once said, “A picture may also be a dream,” and his paintings invite us to imagine, explore, and create.

Why is Klee one of our 35 master artists?

  • His unique approach blends abstraction, music, and nature.
  • He mastered the art of guiding our eyes with shapes, lines, and color.
  • His playful compositions inspire students to think outside the box.

When students study Klee, they don’t just learn about him – they experience his techniques firsthand.

Through our three-step process, students will:

  1. Discover Klee’s life and art during an engaging assembly, complete with vivid slides and stories.
  2. Practice his signature techniques – like abstract composition and using warm and cool colors – on self-guided worksheets.
  3. Create their own masterpieces, such as dreamlike fish paintings or fantastical treehouses, inspired by Klee’s art.

Teaching Klee is simple and fun, even for schools without a dedicated art teacher.

  • Use our scripted lesson plans to introduce Klee’s life and work.
  • Share step-by-step activities that walk students through his techniques.
  • Let students experiment with paint crayons, stencils, and vibrant colors to create their own unique pieces.

Whether you’re an existing customer or curious about starting with Meet the Masters, Klee is a fantastic place to begin.

His lessons encourage creativity, build confidence, and show students how art can be personal and expressive.

Everyone Loves MTM!

Meet the masters continues to be one of the most successful programs at our school, with the largest consistent group of parent volunteers. Our students recognize art by “the masters” when they see it around town or on family trips. Students that call themselves “bad at art” have been delighted when they see the beautiful art they can create. Thank you for all you do to make this curriculum glow and shine. We love it and are so thrilled to continue to use it at our school!
