Art Teachers Enjoy Making Art Too

Posted on March 23, 2011

In Southern California, Meet the Masters employs art teachers that can come into your school to train your teachers or implement the art program for your students.  Schools do have the option to implement the program themselves using their own teachers, docents or parent volunteers.  Meet the Masters has over 40 teachers that actively teach the program in elementary schools in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange and San Diego counties.

Every month, teachers meet at the Meet the Masters warehouse in Irvine in order to get trained, trade teaching tips and make implementation adjustments to ensure a great experience for their schools with the students.  The Meet the Masters teachers really look forward to these ‘training days’.

Here are some photos from the training last month:

Meet the Masters teachers Terry DeLaO and Linda Weltner enjoy a Maria Martinez clay project.

Meet the Masters teacher Joan McMahan leads the instruction for the Piet Mondrian art project.

Meet the Masters teachers Gina Decker and Margie Cordova show their skills making a Piet Mondrian art project.

Pat Archibold explains how the Edgar Degas art project shows depth using perspective and overlapping.

Teri Aalseth instructs Carol Smith on how to make an Alexander Calder mobile.

Meet the Masters teachers take great joy teaching art as well as experiencing art firsthand.

Everyone Loves MTM!

Parents tell me all the time, “It’s amazing my kids recognize this art when they see it in places.”

This also gives them a chance to touch professional-quality art supplies, too, and just get a taste of what’s out there at a young age!
