Critical-thinking, Analytical and Communication Skills
1. Critical thinking –Meet the Masters encourages students to think about why an artist chose a particular subject matter, medium or style. What made this choice revolutionary?
2. Analyze and communicate meaning – During the Meet the Masters assembly, students observe and analyze the master artist’s work and develop an interpretation of the meaning, then communicate their thoughts to others with an active discussion, sharing ideas and listening to others.
Learning, Practice and Projects
1. Learning – With Meet the Masters, the study of each artist begins with the assembly, a multi-media presentation where students learn about the fascinating lives, background and culture of the artist and the world he lived in.
2. Practice – The second component of Meet the Masters includes worksheets, which reinforce the assembly material. Students practice the techniques that made the art unique.
3. Project – In the final step of Meet the Masters, students create their own masterpiece in the same medium, style or subject matter as the master artist.
